Being unrestricted

To try out everything at once, colours, shapes, techniques – that was the aim of German painter Daniel Richter with the painting shown here. Daniel Richter’s artworks will accompany us throughout the entire 2026/2027 season.
The opening concert offers an immediate opportunity to explore the correlation “between abstract painting and music” (Edison Denissow, 1970). Denissow, a friend and colleague of Schnittke and Gubaidulina in the former USSR, lays the groundwork with his delicately illuminated orchestral work ‘Peinture’ for the intricate symphony (1973) by the Jewish-Romanian artist Anatol Vieru, who would have turned one hundred in 2026 – ‘Racing heart’, “Psalm” and “Unbridled Melody” are the titles and subtitles of the symphony`s movements.
Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “Bells” simply cannot sound any more opulent. The stages of human life, from birth through marriage and the storms of life to death, find their echo within.
