A season with class
Experience, understand and make music – our mentorship programme with a Berlin secondary school
Our cooperation with a Berlin high school, which runs for one season at a time, opens the door for school students to the fascinating world of music.. Whether as listeners, participants or explorers – here, classical music comes to life, becomes tangible and inspiring.
Listen and marvel
Concerts in various genres and moderated rehearsals provide exciting insights into the musical work of a professional orchestra. This allows students to experience music up close and get to know the members of the RSB personally.
Participate and create
In interactive workshops, RSB musicians give participants an insight into the professional life of an orchestral musician and introduce them to different instruments. Other highlights include workshops with the management team and guided tours of the historic Haus des Rundfunks. By gaining an insight into the different aspects of musical life, children and young people discover what goes on behind the scenes of a professional orchestra.
Unfold and experience
Individual offerings such as chamber music workshops, composition and conducting workshops, working with the school orchestra or management internships promote personal strengths and create space for creative development.
A win-win situation for all sides
The cooperation broadens the range of educational opportunities offered by the school, strengthens personal development, promotes community spirit, supports integration and intercultural exchange, and contributes to career orientation. Regular reflection and further development create a partnership that enriches both the school and the orchestra – and brings music to life.
2025/2026
In the current season, the Sophie Scholl School in Schöneberg was selected as the RSB's partner school. Here, special focus is placed on the school orchestra, which is conducted by Marianne Grenz and consists of 100 members. The annual concert will take place at the beginning of June 2026 at the Gedächtniskirche.
