JAZZIK
Since 2024, the RSB’s Jazzik series has successfully brought together artists from the worlds of jazz and classical music. Through playful collaboration, the orchestra and its musical guests build bridges between genres. Classical compositional structures blend with the improvisation and rhythms of jazz. Bach meets Brad Mehldau, and Shostakovich meets George Gershwin.
In the 2026/2027 season, sparks will fly between the orchestra and the guest musicians as influences such as swing, blues, big band, tap dance, ballet music, and club culture collide. Works by composers from South Africa, America, England, Germany, and Ukraine are on the program, promising a symphonic-jazz journey around the world in three stages.
