Catherine Larsen-Maguire - Conductor

A consummate artist who combines an innate musicality with a superlative technique, and an astute musical ear with an infectious dynamism on the podium, Catherine Larsen-Maguire has become a sought-after conductor throughout Europe and in Central and South America. Her performances have been praised by critics as ‘charged with recreative energy, flexible tempi, scrupulous balance and interpretative reach’ (The Arts Desk) and ‘difficult to think of a more committed, deeply involved and precise direction than that of Larsen-Maguire’ (Scherzo).
Particularly in demand for the clarity she brings to the romantic British repertoire, she remains supremely versatile, equally at home with Haydn, Brahms, Elgar or Mahler as with works by the composers of today.
The closeness of the relationships she forms with orchestras and their audiences is reflected in the frequency of Catherine Larsen-Maguire’s re-invitations; The 2024-25 season sees her returning to the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater in a new production of Don Giovanni, as well as return engagements with the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie in Germany, the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse in France, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, Orquesta de Extremadura and Orquesta de Córdoba in Spain, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Xalapa in Mexico and the Slovenian Radio Orchestra. The season also includes debuts with the Bergische Symphoniker, Hofer Symphoniker, Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Mainz, Orchestre de chambre de Paris and Orchestre Victor Hugo Bourgogne Franche-Comté among others.

Theater Thikwa - Staged production

Theater Thikwa is “Germany’s most famous theater in which artists with and without disabilities perform together” (rbb Kulturradio). In its own venue in Berlin and in guest performances all over the world, Thikwa presents performances, dance, text and music theater without shying away from experimentation.
The basis of the “stage miracle” (Der Tagesspiegel) is the Thikwa Workshop for Theater and Art. This is where the 42 members of the ensemble have their workplace. The ensemble works in particular with the personal idiosyncrasies of its performers and seeks new forms of expression beyond fixed genre boundaries. It continuously cooperates with external artists from the independent scene.
In 2018, Thikwa was awarded the prestigious Martin Linzer Theater Prize and in 2019 the Theaterpreis des Bundes, one of the most important theater prizes in Germany.
