The situation of musicians and artists in Great Britain is precarious,

because they are mostly freelance. According to the Association of British Orchestras, the British orchestra sector is losing around £6 million a month. Orchestras are also only slightly subsidized by the state – many orchestras and cultural institutions are threatened with loss of income due to the pandemic. The concert is intended to draw attention to this precarious situation.

Chief Conductor Vladimir Jurowski receives prominent support from star violinist Daniel Hope. The British ambassador Sir Sebastian Wood as well as Jeremy Bines, director of the choir of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and oboist Nigel Shore will also attend the concert.

Here you will find an overview of all past concerts on the radio to listen to.
