The Ballhaus Wedding - built in 1889, became a hotspot of Berlin nightlife in the 1920s and was splendidly reopened in 2022 after a long period of slumber - is now one of the city's most extraordinary cultural venues. Since the 2023/24 season, the tradition-steeped hall has been one of the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin's permanent venues for chamber concerts.

With its high ceilings, sparkling chandeliers, mint green walls and heavy curtains, Ballhaus Wedding exudes a unique blend of nostalgia, elegance and urban romance. History and the present come together here: where once glittering ball nights were celebrated, today a lovingly restored hall invites you to musical encounters, dancing and celebrations.

The RSB's programmes fit perfectly into the ambience of this historic ballroom. French Impressionism, Romantic chamber music and Viennese waltzes unfold their effect in a room that is made for musical sensuality and festive exuberance. Works by Boulanger, Chaminade and Ravel bring French sophistication and colourful sound poetry to a hall that radiates openness for emotion and artistic encounters. Strauss waltzes and overtures bring the tradition of dance and festive culture to life and tie in directly with the eventful history of the theatre. Brahms' and Wolf's songs and intermezzi create intimate moments of reflection, which are particularly effective in the special acoustics and atmosphere of the Ballhaus.

This creates an arc of tension ranging from festive exuberance to quiet melancholy - precisely the emotional diversity that makes Ballhaus Wedding so special as an ‘enchanted place’ and stage for vibrant culture. The programme combines musical elegance, emotional depth and lightness of dance - and is therefore ideally suited to the atmosphere of Ballhaus Wedding, which is perfect for a celebration of the senses and encounters.
