The silent green Kulturquartier in Berlin's Wedding district is a unique venue that combines history, architecture and artistic diversity in a special way. The former Wedding crematorium, opened in 1912 as Berlin's first crematorium and now a listed building, was transformed into a creative centre for music, film, visual arts and cultural industries in 2013. Covering around 6,000 square metres, it is home to numerous players such as Musicboard Berlin, the !K7 label, the Harun Farocki Institute and the Arsenal - Institute for Film and Video Art.

The atmosphere of silent green is characterised by its impressive architecture: the sacred domed hall, the historic mourning hall and the modern concrete hall offer a space that combines intimacy, contemplation and artistic openness. In this special ambience, string players from the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin together with piano and mezzo-soprano will present a multi-faceted programme with works by Einojuhani Rautavaara, Kaija Saariaho, Aulis Sallinen, Johannes Brahms, Alexander von Zemlinsky, Richard Wagner and Erich Wolfgang Korngold.

The selected compositions reflect the atmosphere of the location: the Nordic mysticism and closeness to nature of Rautavaara, Saariaho and Sallinen harmonise with the quiet, almost meditative aura of the silent green. The emotional depth and tonal transparency of the works by Brahms, Zemlinsky and Korngold find an ideal resonance chamber in the acoustically fine, historical ambience. Wagner's ‘Träume’ and Zemlinsky's ‘Maiblumen’ benefit from the special light and spatial effect that brings memories, longings and visions to life in silent green.

The result is a musical journey through dreamscapes, emotional depths and poetic soundscapes - perfect for a place that combines history, silence and creative awakening.
