Ivan Repušić - Conductor
Ivan Repušić studied conducting at the Zagreb Music Academy with Igor Gjadrov and Vjekoslav Šutej, continuing his studies with renowned conductors such as Jorma Panula and Gianluigi Gelmetti, as well as assisting Kazushi Ono (Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe) and Donald Runnicles (Deutsche Oper Berlin).
After working as Principal Conductor and Opera Director at the Croatian National Theatre in Split, Music Director of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, Principal Conductor of the Zadar Chamber Orchestra, Conductor with the Staatsoper in Hanover and Principal Guest Conductor at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Ivan Repušic was appointed General Music Director at the Staatsoper in Hanover from the 2016/2017 season. Ivan Repušic recently made his debut with the Munich Radio Orchestra with a staged performance of Puccini’s LA RONDINE and a NEW YEAR’S EVE GALA and as a result has been appointed the orchestra’s new Principal Conductor beginning with the 2017/2018 season.
Recent engagements have taken him to the New National Theatre in Toky for LA TRAVIATA, to the Deutsche Oper in Berlin conducting CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA / PAGLIACCI, LA TRAVIATA, NABUCCO, TANNHÄUSER, CARMEN, TURANDOT, TOSCA, UN BALLO IN MASCHERA, LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR, EUGEN ONEGIN, THE FLYING DUTCHMAN, to the Semperoper in Dresden for MACBETH, FAUST, THE MAGIC FLUTE and LA TRAVIATA, to the Aalto Theater in Essen with FALSTAFF, to the Staatsoper Hamburg with RIGOLETTO, L’ELISIR D’AMORE and LA BOHÈME and to the Komische Oper Berlin for RIGOLETTO and LA TRAVIATA.
He has conducted all the major Croatian orchestras and opera ensembles, as well as the Berlin State Opera, Norwegian National Opera Orchestra, Giuseppe Verdi Symphony Orchestra of Milan, Prague Symphony Orchestra, the Niedersächsisches Staatsorchester in Hanover and the Staatsorchester in Darmstadt, the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, etc.
He performed at all the major Croatian festivals, as well as held guest performances at numerous European halls and festivals, including the famous Musikverein in Vienna, Baden Baden Festspielehaus, Konzerthaus in Berlin, Smetana Hall in Prague, and Festival Verdi Parma. He is also a regular guest conductor with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra (Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin) .He was the recipient of some of the most prestigious awards in Croatia. Beside his conducting endeavors, Repušić continually pursues his pedagogical work as Adjunct Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Split.
