Ilgın Top - Violinistin

The internationally acclaimed violinist Ilgın Top has established herself as both a soloist and a chamber musician. She impresses with her technique, spontaneity, natural charisma and genuine joy in making music.

Ilgın Top graduated with distinction from the Maastricht Conservatoire, where she studied under Boris Belkin, having built up an extensive repertoire for solo violin and chamber music. She has performed with orchestras such as the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra, the Izmir State Symphony Orchestra, the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra, the Bursa Symphony Orchestra, the Eskişehir Symphony Orchestra, the Başkent Chamber Orchestra, the Ruse Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hacettepe
Symphony Orchestra, the Pforzheim Chamber Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Galicia, and has worked with leading conductors such as Rengim Gökmen.

She has been awarded first prize as well as other major and special prizes at prestigious competitions such as the Suna Kan Violin Competition, the Arthur Grumiaux Violin Competition and the Pantcho Vladigerov Violin and Piano Competition for Young Musicians. In 2023, she received the Aydın Gün Encouragement Prize.

Ilgın Top has already performed at events such as the Varna Summer Music Festival, the Bilkent 30th Anniversary Festival and the World Violins Festival, and has played in renowned venues such as the Zorlu PSM, the Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall and the Presidential Symphony Hall. Her first professional recording was made under the direction of Prof. Cihat Aşkın and was sponsored by ING Bank.

Born in Izmir (Turkey), Ilgın Top began her musical training at the age of six at the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts at Bilkent University and studied with some of the world’s finest violin soloists. She is currently completing her concert exam
at the University of Music and Drama in Hanover under Krzysztof Wegrzyn. Ilgın Top plays an exquisite violin by Stephan von Baehr, generously provided by the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben.
