Andreas Fellner

Born in Vienna in 1981, Andreas Fellner received a wide-ranging musical education as a child. He took piano, double bass and percussion lessons and sang in various choirs.

Andreas Fellner completed his first degree in Peter Sadlo’s percussion class at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. During this time, he played as a timpanist in various orchestras and developed a great interest in conducting. After subsequently studying conducting with Georg Mark in Vienna, Andreas Fellner went to the Anhalt Theatre in Dessau as a solo repetiteur with conducting duties. This was followed by engagements as Kapellmeister at the Krefeld Mönchengladbach Theatre and as principal conductor of the Landeskapelle Eisenach.

Andreas Fellner was a conducting scholarship holder of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and assisted Marc Albrecht at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and Simone Young at the Vienna State Opera. As a guest conductor, he regularly works with numerous orchestras such as the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra, Rhineland-Palatinate State Philharmonic Orchestra and the New Philharmonic Orchestra of Westphalia. From 2018 to 2022, Andreas Fellner was also conductor of the NRW Children’s Orchestra.

In recent years, Andreas Fellner has conducted opera camps of the Vienna Philharmonic at the Salzburg Festival for Oedipe, Elektra, Tosca and Aida. He recently conducted the world premiere of Gordon Kampe’s children’s opera ‘Spring doch’ at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich.
