Family and School concerts

There is plenty to astonish and amuse audiences of the RSB's family and school concerts: for example, when the popular TV duo Ralph Caspers and Shary Reeves appear as guests and explain the world of classical music to children with typical humour and understanding in a new edition of “Klassik macht Ah!” It provides an impressive introduction to just how a symphony orchestra works – in both sight and sound. In his program of Edvard Grieg's intoxicating dramatic music for Henrik Ibsen's “Peer Gynt”, their KiKA colleague Juri Tetzlaff turns to an exciting story about a Norwegian good-for-nothing, who is searching for himself. Both programs are recommended for audiences aged 7 and over, and each take place as family as well as school concerts.

Family concert

The legendary RSB play-along concert is entering a new round, and this time everything will hinge on the topic of water in the workshops and during the performance. Children aged 7 and over can prepare meticulously for the play-along parts of the concert from 10 am to 4 pm, under the guidance of RSB musicians. As from 2.30 pm, Steffen Georgi will be inviting their parents to some entertaining background information about water in music, while the workshop children get together for the dress rehearsal. At the same time, younger children who are unable to participate in the workshop can enjoy some musical-creative fun under supervision. In the public family concert at 4 pm it will be possible to hear chamber music inspired by water as well as water sounds made by the children – presented by members of the RSB.

The workshop children play on stage alongside musicians of the RSB.
(Separate advance ticket sales: the workshop children will not need tickets but those accompanying them will.)
Previous musical knowledge is welcome for the workshop but not necessary. Those who have an instrument of their own are invited to bring it along! Attendance at the concert is possible without participating in the workshop!
