FRIENDS AND SPONSORS OF THE RSB e.V.

SUPPORT THE RSB
The society Freunde und Förderer des Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchesters Berlin e.V. (Friends and Sponsors of the RSB) was founded by active music enthusiasts in 1997, in order to provide enduring support for an orchestra that has helped to shape German radio history.

For more than ten years, the society has also supported the “capella academica”, the traditional amatuer symphony orchestra of the Humboldt University Berlin, the members of which are publicly committed in turn to lobbying passionately for the RSB.

The society is a non-profit organisation financed by donations and membership fees. It promotes special projects by the RSB, in particular the Orchestra Academy and educational programmes, and also provides assistance in the search for sponsors. We are always grateful for any assistance committed to consolidating the orchestra’s work.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF FREUNDE UND FÖRDERER?

1. The society organizes chamber concerts with musicians from the RSB, in Glienicke Palace, for example, and our members receive free or reduced entry.

2. Members get to take a look behind the scenes and, for example, they can attend selected rehearsals of the RSB.

3. Members get CD recordings and publications of the RSB on preferential terms.

As a friend and sponsor, you will of course receive regular information about these opportunities and many others by post.

WHAT PROJECTS ARE SUPPORTED BY OUR MEMBERS?

1. Orchestra Academy
In 2012 the Orchestra Academy of the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, established with the support of the Freunde und Förderer, celebrated its tenth anniversary. This programme offers students of international music academies and universities an opportunity to gather practical experience in everyday orchestral life. Why not assist an RSB academy student in her or his development and contribute to her or his success through your commitment as a sponsor?

2. Orchestra mentored by the RSB
The best string players at German music schools aged 11 to 19 come together in the Deutsche Streicherphilharmonie. The Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin is the mentoring orchestra, officially certified by the Jeunesses Musicales, of this youth orchestra and has been providing teachers for ensemble work since its foundation.

3. Play-along concert
An RSB team takes on the exciting but exacting task of moulding more than one hundred children into an orchestra ready for the stage within two hours. Here, children are given the opportunity to make music actively and spontaneously. Finally, playing together and coordinated by professional musicians, the children’s orchestra with its distinctive sound can be experienced on stage. You’re warmly welcome to also support the further educational projects of the RSB!

HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE RSB?

1. Membership:
your membership fee enables the funding and continuance of important aspects of the RSB’s work. You determine how much you contribute, although we do request a minimum membership fee of 60 euros. Membership fees and any other donations may be set against tax!

2. Project support:
promote specific projects of your choice with your contribution.

3. Voluntary work:
we are also grateful for any personal commitment. You can offer voluntary work, for example, in musical educational projects or supervise the Freundeskreis information stand at RSB concerts.
