Rapauke
Petrushka and Keloğlan, Romeo and Juliet, Santa Claus and his reindeer – this season, the RSB’s Concerts for the Whole Family feature a particularly colorful parade of characters. In two concerts, you can experience the whole orchestra. And you’ll see that not only do conductors conduct, they are also great storytellers! They bring you stories about music and let the music ring out on the spot. Exciting things also happen when the RSB’s brass musicians unpack their instruments and blast out a march (among other things), and Anne Lehmann will tell you all about them.
But the star of this year’s main event is … you! You, 100 children, are the Orchester der Berliner Stadtmusikanten, led by musicians of the RSB. After a musical afternoon at Radialsystem V, you perform a brand new piece of music that has never been heard before: a concert to join in on, which will prove to be a great deal of fun for all participants (parents included), just like the one in February 2010.
It thunders, whistles, scratches, rattles and roars; sometimes loud, sometimes soft, sometimes eerie, and sometimes cheerful. Within the space of two hours, 100 children grow into a real orchestra and harvest enthusiastic applause after their performance. That’s what happened with the children’s orchestra the “Bremer Stadtmusikanten”, whose great success in 2009 is now to be followed by the next participatory concert in 2010. The children bring a work of art to living sound, once again playing orchestra themselves – this time, together with soloists of the RSB.
