Deutsche Streicherphilharmonie

60 dedicated young musicians between the ages of 13 and 19 play together under the direction of Prof. Michael Sanderling in the string orchestra Deutsche Streicherphilharmonie. They study at music schools throughout Germany and, in auditions where they were up against the best of their discipline, they qualified themselves to participate in this youth string orchestra.
Members meet three times a year for eight to ten-day rehearsal phases, which are followed by one or two concert trips. Great works of string orchestra literature from all stylistic eras are featured in their programs.

RSB Mentorship
The Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester and the Deutsche Streicherphilharmonie have been cooperative partners for over 30 years. In this tradition, the musicians of the RSB function as mentors for the young orchestra. The partnership has been recognized by the Jeunesses Musicales Germany and the German Orchestra Union (Deutsche Orchestervereinigung DOV) as the first of its kind in Germany.
As such, the model sets an example for further mentoring partnerships between professional and youth orchestras. The partnership was officially recognized with the presentation of a certificate following the signing of a mentorship contract between the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin and the Deutsche Streicherphilharmonie.
