Rehearsal Visits to the RSB
“So what do musicians do in the daytime?” This question is posed by a number of people who are not familiar with the content of a professional musician’s life and only perceive his concert work. But there is a great deal of concentrated preparation work behind any ensemble’s public appearances. In order to get some sense of what it means to develop a perfect concert sound with more than 90 musicians in different instrumental groups and to see what tasks the conductor faces, school groups may visit the orchestra’s rehearsals upon prior arrangement with the RSB’s schools representative.
When required, suitable preparation can be organised, see “School Projects”. Exchanging the classroom for the broadcasting hall at Haus des Rundfunks may be prepared in an information session as part of traditional (music) lessons, or upon request by a member of the orchestra who will visit the classroom. The musician joins the class either once or a number of times and helps the children to get to know the orchestra’s work better in a number of creative improvisation games. He or she will tell the children about rehearsal and concert experiences, answer questions, and present various instruments that the young people can also try out.

Subscribers and members of the Friends and Supporters of the RSB are invited to rehearsal visits on a regular basis. Special rehearsal visits for groups are possible on request.
